Photovoltaic v. Solar Thermal
The difference between the solar cell and the solar thermal collector is the dependence on light energy without heat. Increase in cell temperature leads to a drop in its efficiency and lifetime. As a consequence, less financial returns on investment are achieved. Hence, the necessity for cost-effective cooling mechanisms for solar modules.
